well, you should just leave enough out, so whenever hes hungry, he can eat.
If he won’t eat it, without millet, then just sprinkle some milliet seeds into the bird food, and try that out, without giving him the whole stick.
They love fruits and veggies ( exept no avocados, or apple seeds ), like bannanas, carrots, and apples. Thats pretrty much it. They like cockatiel zupreem too.

You are to be commended for seeking ways to nourish your feathered ones.good for you. Cockatiels learn to eat lots of people food so long as they are continuosly introduced to various foods.Try offering scrambled eggs/hardboiled egg/bits of peas/corn/broccoli/carrots/potatos/sweet potatoes etc.only offer minute amounts.they will eventually begin nibbling.they like popcorn too.no salt/butter just good ol popcorn.as well as corn on the cob.& much more. You can make birdy bread too.just make the Jiffy bread/corn muffin mix & add whatever yummies or variation you think they may like.ideas: nuts/eggs/veggies/fruit/raisins/etc. You can cut the braed in small cubes & place in freezer bags to freeze & simply take a cube out daily to give them. Make sure you do not offer any Avacado[birds are NOT to have that.].apple seds & some fruit pits should be avoided as well. But your lil feathered ones can eat most all that you do.NO chocolate/alcohol/caffiene. You can find more info on many bird sites like http://www.birdboard.com an excellent site for all kinds of info that will help guide you in the right direction. Lots of recipes as well as featherloving people that will happily interact with you. Take care~

There is a Yahoo group called Feeding Feathers. The group deals specifically with avian nutrition. In their files you will find species specific diets. Also you can post your bird diet questions and get helpful answers.
