I always cook for my family, on the grill, in the oven or on the stovetop. I love to cook. My problem is, I have never used a crockpot(slow cooker) or pressure cooker, although I have them. People always say it is much easier to throw something together in them, and go about the day. I would love to save some time, especially since it is summertime, and I would love to be doing more family activities. Does anyone know some delicious and nutritious recipes for the crockpot or pressure cooker. Do you think it is worth using. Thank you to all who answer in advance. Have a great day.

Here is one for Pulled Pork.
Ingredients:
* 4 lb pork roast
* 2 onions, sliced, divided
* 1 onion, chopped
* 5 or 6 whole cloves
* 2 cups water
* 16 oz bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce
* salt and pepper
Preparation:
Place one sliced onion at the bottom of Crock Pot.
Stud pork roast with cloves and season with salt and pepper.
Place roast in slow cooker on top of the sliced onion. Cover with the second sliced onion and add enough water to fill Crock Pot two thirds of the way.
Cover and cook on low 8 to 12 hours.
Remove roast. Remove and discard cloves, bone and fat as well as any water, onions and grease remaining in pot.
When pork roast is cool enough to handle, use a fork or your fingers to pull it apart until the entire roast is shredded.
Return the pulled pork to the crockpot. Mix in the chopped onion and BBQ sauce and cover. Heat on high for 1-3 hours or until the onions are soft.
Serve on large, crusty buns with a mustard based Carolina-style BBQ sauce. Garnish with dill pickle spears, thinly sliced raw onion and pickled pepperoncini (Italian banana peppers). Serve with crisp, homemade slaw.

The problem with Pressure Cookers, is that a lot of the recipies dont fall under the Nutritious category.
Slow Cooker recipies are great for when you are on the run. I suggest investing in a cook book. I have several for the slow cooker.
Of course its not going to be a complete meal (meat, side of veggies, and a biscuit type of thing) it’ll be one of those everythings together meals. But you can’t go wrong. The flavors really come together in a slow cooker.
I usually do pulled pork for 12-24 hours, or corned beef with potatoes and carrots. but you can use chicken, ground beef, ground turkey. pretty much anything. Find a recipe you want to try and tweek it to your liking.

My favorite crock pot recipe is chicken tacos. I use whatever chicken is on sale, whether it’s the pre-frozen or the fresh. I usually get breasts, just because it seems to work well. If it’s fresh, then I freeze it overnight.
In the morning, I put the chicken in the crock pot, still frozen. Then I put in a package of chicken taco seasoning, the the off-brand generic stuff. On top of that, I put in a can of ro-tel. It’s the diced tomatoes and green chilis. I use a small can if it’s a small amount of chicken, but if you’re doing the big crock-pot size, you might want either two small ones or one big can.
I put it on low heat and cook it for about 6 or 7 hours, then I get in with a fork and shred the chicken and let it cook for a few more hours.
Just get all the other taco fixings ready and it’s good to go in about 8 hours. It’s good for leftovers, too.

I’m sure you will get plenty of recipes, so I’m gonna skip that part.
A crock pot is just a slow cooker. Pretty much anything you would cook aver low heat for hours at a time can be cooked in one. Soups, Chili, and a pot roast are the most common. Think of it as an electric pot to use the same way you would use any other pot on the stove to simmer with, or in the oven to slow cook meals.
A pressure cooker is a bit different as it can take many of the same meals and cook them faster because of the pressure. Just please be careful if you use one. It is VERY easy to get steam burns, and have food splatter. always check your automatic pressure release valve to make sure it is clean and free of obstructions and verify that your manual pressure release is functioning properly before even starting to cook with one.
Both are certainly worth using as long as it is done with care. there’s nothing like getting up early and throwing some potatoes, carrots, onion, and a beef roast in the crock pot. Then coming home later to your house smelling like warm goodness.

Yes it definitely is worth cooking with a slow cooker and pressure cooker pot I have both and I have use them for many years, the food is great and you have time to work and cook at the same time many meal are made this way for the working moms and dads the supper is ready when you get home and the aroma will welcome you as well, no need to worry about stirring either, the pressure cooker cuts time to half and the nutrients stay in the pot very little water is used when cooking vegetables you can have green beans cooked in 5 minutes.

Here is my crock pot chili recipe
**It’s a small recipe, makes 4 big bowls, if you have a large family you may wish to double it
1 lb lean ground beef
1 can mrs. grimes chili beans
1 can rotel tomatoes with chilies
1 can tomato sauce
serrano peppers (5)
onion
garlic
salt and pepper
red pepper
chili powder
brown meat and drain fat, mix all ingredients in crock pot and let cook all day on low.the longer it cooks the better it is.

My boyfriend makes a roast in the crock pot and it’s always so tender and great tasting. He uses a whole roast, about 3 big cans of cream of mushroom soup and a couple packages of lipton onion soup and lets it slow cook all day. We use the gravy over mashed potatoes. So yummy.

The absolute EASIEST recipe for a slow cooker or crock pot is BBQ pork.
1. Put pork in the cooker without any other ingredients.
2. Let is cook all day.
3. Add barbeque sauce after complete.
4. Let is warm for another hour.
Enjoy the best pulled pork of your life.

i used to literally cook EVERYTHING in the slow cooker. my husband was stationed at an army base, and they had no room for him to live on base, so they housed him in a near by hotel- and of course eating out got old, and expensive. and so did microwaveable things. so when i would go visit him, and he obviously had no stove/oven since he was in a hotel, i’d have to use my imagination and make all sorts of crap in those.so here is a few recipes i have accumulated in my brain since~
can~.
Make a Pot Roast.
And you don’t even have to cook it, if you throw it in a slow cooker/crock pot, and let it simmer on low for 8 -10 hours it does all the work for yah~.(dont worry if you don’t have one you can also do this in the oven.).
what you’ll need:
2-3 lb pork or beef roast (can’t remember which one is cheaper, but check when you get there, either is fine).
1 small bag of baby carrotts
6 small red potatoes (you can buy these indiviually)
1 chopped onion (or a bag of pearl onions, but thats more expensive)
1 can of beef broth.
this should come to about $10.00-$12.00 for all the ingredients
anyway,
if cooking in crock pot/slow cooker:
8 hours on low
or
4-5 hours on high.
rinse off roast, put it in the crock, and pour the can of beef broth over it.
(the beef broth will make it very tender/juicy/moist/flavorful
throw in the potatoes/carrots/onions 4 hours prior to eating (or if on high, 2 hours prior to eating is when you should throw that stuff in.
and then right before you’re ready to eat. spoon out as much broth from the roast as youd like, put it in a pan, and bring it to a boil (this shouldn’t take long, as it’s already hot from being in the crock. when it starts boiling add some flour or wondra to it- salt, and pepper, and walaaaa. you have gravy.it’s delicious.
Meat Loaf:
2 lbs 97 % lean ground beef
4 egg whites
ketchup
bread crumbs
1 whole onion
spices and seasonings as you’d like
mix it all together, throw it in your crock, and put on low for 6-8 hours., draining grease (if any has accumlated) as nessecary.
Homemade mac *and * Cheese
1 box of macaroni noodles ( i use the bigger macaroni noodles)
as much colby cheese as you like ( i use a whole block)
3/4 a block of velveeta
a dash a milk,
half a stick a butter
spray crock with pam
mix everything together (make sure the noodles are cooked before you do this)
add some salt, pepper, garlic salt.
2 hours on low
or
1 hour on high.
top with canned tomatoes YUM.
Cheesy Broccoli and Cauliflower Crock Pot Recipe
cheesy broccoli/cauliflower
1 (10 oz) package frozen cauliflower, thawed
1 (10 oz) package frozen broccoli, thawed
1 can Cheddar cheese soup
4 slices bacon
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Fry bacon until crisp; drain well on paper towels then crumble. Place broccoli and cauliflower in crock pot. Top with soup, sprinkle with bacon. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours. About 20 minutes before done, top with cheddar.
